The lotus flower often represents the seven main energy centers within our bodies. Each lotus chakra occupies in its own space and unfolds to radiate a color of the rainbow. The fifth chakra, the Blue Lotus, resides in the throat area and dictates our creative energy. The throat center forms a connection between mind and body. This connection allows for artistic communication via our physical bodies. It is our Blue Lotus that enables us to claim our identity as dancers and to share our passion with you. |

Established in 2001, Chicago's Blue Lotus Tribe is one of the up-and-coming forces in the tribal bellydance world. Heralded for their tight improvistaional skills, original choreographies, impeccable technique, and party-like stage presence, Blue Lotus Tribe is working hard to bring the Midwestern tribal scene to the forefront. Each member of Blue Lotus Tribe has an extensive background in tribal and tribal fusion dance, and is also accomplished in the art of Egyptian style bellydance. The dancers of Blue Lotus Tribe have studied for several years with many teachers, and have all become professional solo artists as well as members of this unique dance company. Blending Egyptian technique, composition, and musicality with the tribal movements, music, and aesthetic, Blue Lotus Tribe has successfully created a new twist on tribal, taking it to a new level and calling themselves "Egypto-Tribal Fusion Bellydance." Blue Lotus Tribe continues their quest for new inspiration and ideas by traveling across the country and taking classes with the masters of both Oriental and Tribal bellydance, creating a bridge between the two that honors the ancient art of Middle-Eastern bellydance while looking to the future of bellydance with today's modern Tribal Fusion movement. Apart from their popular local classes, performances, and workshops, Blue Lotus Tribe has had the honor of teaching and performing around the country to enthusiastic students and appreciative audiences. In addition to this, they are the hostesses of the region's only tribal bellydance festival-style event, Tribal Revolution, now in its fifth year. |
